About Our StaffCarrie O. Schroeder, Executive DirectorCarrie Schroeder earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Puget Sound in May of 1998. She sits of the Board of Directors for the Casper Family YMCA and also works with the Casper Museum Consortium. Schroeder started her career in advertising sales for Cox Communications, a cable television company and then went on to work in event marketing for Blockbuster Entertainment in Dallas. She began her career at The Science Zone in November of 2009 as the Executive Director opening the site downtown. Schroeder has a background rich in informal education, volunteer coaching, and philanthropy work with at-risk youth through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kansas program and The United Way in Manhattan. Her experiences with public relations, sales and marketing have been well-harnessed to the mission of The Science Zone.
Jennifer Wistisen, Educator/Program DirectorJennifer Wistisen earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from The University of Wyoming. She also holds three associates degrees, one in Applied Sciences and two in General Studies with a focus in Education. Wistisen loves science! She has tutored students from elementary through the college level in math and science and has substituted and taught supplemental science through the Natrona County School District for the past ten years. Wistisen brought Camp Invention to Casper, WY two summers ago and continues to serve as the director. She also volunteers her time with the Natrona County 4-H program and The Girl Scouts program. Wistisen serves on the Connections Committee, the Instruction and Curriculum Board—both are through the Natrona County School District. She directs the PBS SciGirls program at The Science Zone and participates on the organization’s behalf with the Casper Museum Consortium.
Jodi Shelton, EducatorJodi Shelton earned her degree in Education from Idaho State University in 1989. Shelton moved to Casper in November of 1995 from Southeast Idaho, where she had worked as a teacher for developmental/handicapped preschoolers through fourth graders. Upon moving to Casper, Shelton taught at Manor Heights as the Special Reading teacher for first and second grades for one year and then moved to CY Junior High to teach reading for seventh through ninth grades. She left in 2001 to be home with her children and has been a substitute teacher for the NCSD since 2008. Shelton loves everything to do with education and working with kids! She is at home with her her husband, two girls and a multitude of critters (Sutter the German shepard, Kokoa and Skippy the two Siamese kitties, Skitz the Bearded Dragon, Bob the Tarantula, Speedy and Gonzales the Crested Geckos, Bambi the bunny, numerous fish and two corn snakes yet to be named! She loves gardening, sewing, knitting, woodworking and reading.
